The Vanuatu High Commissioner to Australia, Mr Jimmy Nipo, met with His Excellency Mr Karl Eugene M. Stouthuysen, Ambassador of Belgium, to discuss opportunities for strengthening bilateral cooperation between Vanuatu and Belgium.
The discussions focused on key areas of mutual interest, including climate change and climate adaptation, ports and maritime cooperation, and dam construction and technology.
Belgium expressed interest in sharing its knowledge and expertise in these sectors, particularly its extensive experience in ports and maritime development. The discussions also explored opportunities for technical cooperation and engagement in infrastructure and climate-related initiatives.
The meeting reaffirmed the shared interest of Vanuatu and Belgium in developing practical cooperation that supports climate resilience, maritime development and sustainable infrastructure in Vanuatu.
