- The Government of Vanuatu has signed the Seasonal worker Program agreement with the Australian Government in 2013 Vanuatu.
In 2018, the Pilot Program was introduced to send workers in horticulture, Hospitality and meat Factory for a period of 3 to 4 years.
In 2022, The Australian Government has merged the Seasonal Worker Program and the Palm program into the Pacific Australia Labour Mobility Program.
Vanuatu currently hold the highest number of 9,000 plus workers in Australia working in various sectors.
What do we Do
The Vanuatu High Commission as the Government representative in Australia has the mandate to represent the Vanuatu Government in the Policy decision-making of the scheme, address welfare issues and mistreatment directly to the Government of Australia and also provide consular support to the its Citizens.
The High Commission as recently appointed a new Labour Attaché based in Canberra, Australia to manage the Policies and raise issues directly with the Australian Government and response to the welfare issues of Ni Vanuatu workers at large, provide explanation and advice to Vanuatu workers under the scheme.
