A1 | Visa on Arrival
Passport holders from the following countries will be issued visa on arrival for the purpose of tourism only and will be granted to stay in Vanuatu for a period not exceeding 120 days.
Requirements:
- Passport with at least 6 month validity
- A return Itinerary

B1 | Tourist Visa
The Tourist Visa Single Entry” Visa is valid for 4 months from the date of issuance. Travelers must enter Vanuatu within the said 4-month period. They will be allowed to stay in Vanuatu for a period of up to 120 days from the date of entry. The extension is possible for another 30 days.
Application procedure:
Each applicant must submit the following documents to the Vanuatu High Commission, Canberra by post or in person or via email (
1- The Applicant must be outside Vanuatu
2- Visitor Application form – completed and signed by applicant
(health and character questions answered on application form)
3- Visa application charge paid -69$ ( The amount transfer to the Vanuatu High Commission Account). (Reference of the payment will be provided by the officer once your documents is complete) .
4- Certified copy of biodata page of valid passport and all used Visa pages of passport/ Passport must be six (6) months of validity or over
Note: Passport must be the one you will use on entry to Vanuatu
5- Return ticket or evidence of other arranged transport from Vanuatu within 120 days of arrival.
6- Evidence of:
- funds / income to support the applicant for duration of stay of 60 000 Vatu per month; or
- support the applicant will receive from family/friends in Vanuatu
7- Evidence that you have a genuine intention to depart Vanuatu within 120 days. This may include:
- a letter from your employer confirming leave;
- a proof of booking with an accredited tourism facility
- proof of return ticket
- other information that you have an incentive to depart Vanuatu such as to
complete studies, care for children etc
Note: Supporting documents not in English, French or Bislama must be translated into one of these languages.
8- If the applicant is under 18 years of age: the Director is satisfied that both of the applicant’s parents, if living, or legal guardian(s) have consented to the grant of the visa.
9- If the applicant is under 18 years of age, is not a member of an organized tour and will not be accompanied by at least one parent or guardian whilst in Vanuatu: an undertaking from a Vanuatu citizen, or the holder of a visa valid during the applicant’s stay, to provide accommodation and food and be responsible for the applicant’s general welfare during the applicant’s stay in Vanuatu.
Visa processing times
- Visa processing time is up to 10 business days.
- Certain applications which require special consideration may take longer to process.
C1 | Business Visa
Single Entry Visa is valid for 4 months from the date of issuance. Travelers must enter Vanuatu within the said 4-month period. They will be allowed to stay in Vanuatu for a period of up to 90 days from the date of entry. During the 90-day stay, if they wish to leave and re-enter Thailand, they are required to submit a new request before departure.
Multiple Entry Visa is valid for 10 months from the date of issuance. Travelers must enter Vanuatu within the validity of visa. They will be allowed to stay in Vanuatu for a period of up to 10 months from the date of each entry.
Application procedure:
Each applicant must submit the following documents to the Vanuatu High Commission, Canberra by post or in person or via email. Prepare required documents as follows:
- Application form dully completed
- Copy of Valid Passport (Validity more than 6 months)
- Receipt for Payment of Associated Fees (245$ or 430$) ( The amount transfer to the Vanuatu High Commission Account). (Reference of the payment will be provided by the officer once your documents is complete) . ( Payment is not refundable )
- Copy of proposed Itinerary for intended travelling
- Purpose of Applying for Business visa:
Business (Meetings, Exploratory & Negotiations)
*Confirmation letter from Institution or Company of Origin
*Confirmation letter from an Institution/Company in Vanuatu that will support his/her purpose of visit - Filming / Research
*Filming permit from Vanuatu Cultural Center - Temporary Employment
*Cover letter from business partner/employer
*Copy of Valid temporary Work Permit from Labour Department
*Copy of Valid Business License, VIPA and VFSC for Employing Company - If the person is inside the country, need to pay Change of Status and provide receipt copy of payment

D1 | Official/Diplomatic/Special Visa
The Official/Diplomatic/ Special Category Visa is only issue by the Vanuatu Department of Immigration. The Embassies with a Mission in Vanuatu can apply directly trough the Department of Foreign Affairs in Vanuatu. As for the Mission with no representation in Vanuatu or accredited to Vanuatu with residence in Canberra, Australia, The Vanuatu High Commission can facilitate the request directly with the Department of Foreign Affairs in Vanuatu. The The special category visa is granted to:
- a person employed by the Government;
- a person seconded to the Government;
- a member of a diplomatic mission in Vanuatu;
- a member of a prescribed donor agency;
- a member of a class of persons prescribed by the regulations;
- subject to sections 37 and 38 of the Immigration Act No17 of 2010, a member of the family of a person mentioned in paragraph (a), (b), (c), (d), or (e).
Special Category Visa applications must be accompanied by a written recommendation from:
- the Director of Foreign Affairs Department on the basis of being a diplomatic representative of a country in Vanuatu or a family member of such a person; or
- the relevant Commission on the basis of being an employee of a government department or agency, or a family member of such a person; or
- the relevant Commission on the basis of being seconded to a government department or agency, or a family member of such a person; or
- the head of a prescribed donor agency on the basis of being a member of that donor agency, or a family member of such a person
Special category visa applications are not submitted directly to Immigration but to relevant authorities who do assessment before submitting the letter of recommendation or request letter to Vanuatu Immigration & Passport Services.
Special Category Visa Checklist
Special Category Visa Application Form – completed and signed by you and each person included in your application aged 18 years and over
If you are in Vanuatu: Valid Passport; or If you are outside Vanuatu: certified copy of bio-data page and all used passport pages for you and all people included in your application
2 recent passport sized photographs of you and each person included in your application with names of the person on the back of their photograph
Note: Passport must be the one you will use on entry to Vanuatu.
If you or a person included in your application is aged under 18 years: certified copy of birth certificate *
- If you or a person included in your application is aged 18 years or above: original Police certificate* from all countries you resided in for 12 months or more in the last 5 years
- If you or a person included in your application is aged 18 years or above: Medical examination completed by a registered medical practitioner *
- If you or a person included in your application is married: certified copy of marriage certificate *
- If you or a person included in your application has been widowed: certified copy of death certificate *
- If you or a person included in your application has been divorced: certified copy of divorce certificate *
A letter recommending that you be granted a visa from:
- the Director of the Department of Foreign Affairs on the basis of being a diplomatic representative in Vanuatu or a family member of such a person; or
- the Public Service, Police, Teaching or Judiciary Commissioner on the basis of being an employee of a Government Department or seconded to a Government Department or a family member of such a person; or
- the head of a donor agency on the basis that the person will be working for that agency in Vanuatu or a family member of such a person and the donor agency is:
- an agency or Foreign Government approved by the Director of Foreign Affairs or an organization operating on a not for profit basis in Vanuatu; and
- other agency will be providing development assistance to Vanuatu.
