Hon. Amanda Rishworth, Australia’s Minister for Employment and Workplace Relations, has invited Pacific and Timor-Leste Heads of Mission to attend the biannual Minister’s Roundtable focused on the Pacific Australia Labour Mobility scheme (PALM) scheme.
The roundtable provided an important platform for dialogue on key developments, challenges, and opportunities under the PALM scheme, which enables workers from Pacific Island countries and Timor-Leste to take up employment opportunities in Australia.
During the session, Minister Rishworth presented updates on the implementation and future direction of the scheme. The meeting also features an open discussion segment, allowing Heads of Mission to share perspectives, raise concerns, and explore ways to further strengthen cooperation and worker welfare.
The roundtable underscores Australia’s ongoing commitment to deepening partnerships with Pacific nations and Timor-Leste through labour mobility initiatives. By fostering transparent dialogue and collaboration, the meeting aims to ensure the PALM scheme continues to deliver mutual benefits — supporting Australian industries while contributing to economic development and skills transfer across the Pacific region.
Participation from Heads of Mission is highly valued, reflecting the shared responsibility and partnership approach that underpins the success of the PALM scheme.
