The Acting High Commissioner Meets designate Argentine Ambassador accredited to Vanuatu with residents Canberra, Australia.

The Acting High Commissioner recently met with His Excellency Mr Maximo GOWLAND, Ambassador of Argentina to discuss areas of mutual interest and to further enhance bilateral relations between Vanuatu and Argentina.

During the meeting, the Acting High Commissioner conveyed the Government of Vanuatu’s sincere appreciation for the humanitarian assistance provided by Argentina following the devastation caused by Tropical Cyclone Judy and Tropical Cyclone Kevin in 2023. The timely support extended during the twin cyclones was acknowledged as a strong demonstration of solidarity and friendship between the two nations.

Both counterparts engaged in constructive discussions on strengthening cooperation in key sectors of shared interest. Emphasis was placed on enhancing collaboration in fisheries, recognizing its importance to Vanuatu’s economy and sustainable development objectives. Health cooperation was also highlighted, with discussions exploring opportunities for accessing Argentine medical expertise and capacity-building support in the health sector.

The meeting reaffirmed the shared commitment of both countries to deepen engagement and expand practical cooperation in priority areas.

The Acting High Commissioner expressed optimism about advancing discussions and looks forward to continued collaboration with Argentina to further strengthen the longstanding friendship and partnership between the two countries.
