Acting High Commissioner Pays Courtesy Call on the Ambassador of Georgia

The Acting High Commissioner of the Republic of Vanuatu to Australia, Mr. Ernest Guy Sumptoh, paid his first official courtesy call on His Excellency Mr. Beka Dval, Ambassador of Georgia, marking a positive start to diplomatic engagements for the year 2026.

The meeting provided an opportunity for both sides to exchange views on key areas of cooperation, with a strong focus on education and human resource development. Discussions included continued assistance with scholarship opportunities for Ni-Vanuatu students, aimed at strengthening academic exchange and enhancing capacity building.

The two representatives also discussed upskilling and training opportunities for public servants, recognising the importance of professional development in enhancing public sector effectiveness and governance.

In addition, the meeting covered areas of mutual interest at both regional and international platforms, reaffirming the shared commitment of Vanuatu and Georgia to constructive engagement and cooperation in multilateral forums.

The Acting High Commissioner described the meeting as very fruitful, setting a positive tone for the year ahead. The Government of Vanuatu looks forward to further strengthening relations Georgia.
