The Vanuatu High Commission in Canberra is pleased to announce the successful installation and operationalisation of the Civil Registry and Identity Management (CRIM) system, marking a significant advancement in the delivery of essential government services for Vanuatu citizens residing in Australia.
The new system enables the High Commission to provide a range of vital civil registration services, including the registration and issuance of birth certificates, marriage certificates, and death certificates. This development ensures that Vanuatu citizens in Australia can access key documentation services without the need to return to Vanuatu, improving efficiency, accessibility, and overall service delivery.
In addition to civil registration services, the High Commission is also pleased to introduce the printing of the National I.D. Card at the High Commission. This new service further strengthens the High Commission’s role in supporting the identity management needs of citizens in Australia.
The installation of the CRIM system was made possible through close collaboration with the Civil Registry and Identity Management Office of Vanuatu. The High Commission extends its sincere appreciation to Director Mr. Jeffrey Trief and the Director General of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, Mr. Leith Veremaito, for their leadership and continued commitment to decentralising essential government services to overseas missions, including the Vanuatu High Commission.
The High Commission also acknowledges the valuable technical contribution of IT Manager Mr. Jack Edwards, who successfully installed the CRIM system and provided comprehensive training to staff, ensuring the system is fully operational and staff are well equipped to deliver services effectively.
This milestone represents a significant step forward in modernising consular and civil registration services for Vanuatu citizens in Australia, reflecting the Government’s ongoing commitment to improving access, strengthening governance systems, and enhancing service delivery to its people abroad.
