The Chargé d’Affaires Mr. Ernest Sumptoh recently met with the Ambassador of Italy, His Excellency Mr. Nicola LENER to discuss matters of mutual interest and further strengthen bilateral relations.
During the meeting, the Chargé d’Affaires provided an overview of Vanuatu in preparation for the Ambassador’s upcoming presentation of credentials on 23 June 2026 to the President of the Republic of Vanuatu, His Excellency Nikenike Vurobaravu.
The Chargé d’Affaires also expressed sincere appreciation to the Government of Italy for its continued support, particularly for the training opportunities extended to Vanuatu diplomats in areas such as environmental protection, biodiversity, and ecosystem management. He further acknowledged the upcoming training programme on anti-money laundering.
The Ambassador conveyed his enthusiasm for visiting Vanuatu in June 2026 and reaffirmed Italy’s commitment to strengthening its partnership with Vanuatu.
